De Leon returns as national treasurer
MANILA, Philippines - Rosalia de Leon, after her stint at the World Bank, will return to her former post as national treasurer.
Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez made the announcement on Wednesday night during the Foundation for Economic Freedom’s fellowship meeting.
De Leon worked as Treasury chief starting 2012, when she replaced current National Treasurer Roberto Tan who was appointed as World Bank executive director for Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago from 2012 to 2014.
She left her post in 2015 to work as senior adviser to the World Bank executive director representing emerging countries.
Dominguez declined to disclose where Tan will be reassigned, but sources said he will be moving to the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp.
As national treasurer, De Leon will be in charge of the formulation of policies on borrowing, investment and capital market development, the formulation of proper operations guidelines for fiscal and financial policies, the maintenance of books and accounts of national government cash transactions, among others.
