MANILA, Philippines - Logistics company LBC Express Inc. and PERA HUB have inked a partnership agreement aimed at growing their respective businesses.

PERA HUB, majority owned by Aboitiz Equity Ventures, is currently the largest Western Union agent in the country with 2,100 branches.

Under the agreement, LBC outlets will offer payout services for transactions sent via Western Union services in all of its over 1,400 locations nationwide, thus providing more convenience to consumers.

LBC president and COO Miguel Camahort said the partnership was in line with the company’s overall vision and thrust.

PETNET likewise welcomed the partnership. “We are excited to have LBC on-board. This will definitely open up new opportunities for both businesses with regard to the remittance industry,” said PETNET president Lorenzo Ocampo.

For his part, Western Union country director Jeffrey Navarro said the collaboration expands the group’s network across the country.

“We are pleased with this collaboration between PETNET and LBC. Having Western Union services available in LBC branches nationwide is aligned with our plans of expanding our network footprint in the country and making our services more accessible to consumers,” Navarro said.

AEV entered as the new majority owner of PETNET in mid-2015, leading to a full transformation and an aggressive branch expansion program.

PETNET changed its brand name to PERA HUB in April 2016 to better describe its portfolio of services and continuously be relevant to its target market and the industry.

AEV is the publicly listed holding and investment company of the Aboitiz family. It has a wide portfolio of investments including power, banking and financial services, food, land, and infrastructure.

LBC, meanwhile, is the market leader in retail and corporate courier and cargo, money remittance, and logistics services. To date, it has network of over 6,400 branches, hubs and warehouses, partners, and agents in over 30 countries.
