Asian Forum on CSR set in Bangkok

- The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines -  The 2012 Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (AFCSR) will be held Oct. 25-26 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.

With the theme, “Innovative Approaches to Create Value for Business and Society,” AFCSR 2012 aims to explore innovations that would benefit both the company’s internal and external stakeholders. These innovations not just involve products and the use of technology, but also the practice of multi-stakeholder engagement and improvements in supply chain processes.

“What distinguishes AFCSR from other conferences is the fact that we provide a general framework on CSR that serves as a foundation for our discussions and ways to move forward,” says AFCSR 2012 Conference executive director Prof. Felipe B. Alfonso, who also serves as the executive advisor of the AIM Ramon V. del Rosario, Sr. Center for Corporate Social Responsibility.

“For example, innovative pro-poor products or community programs require a framework to generate stakeholder buy-in.” One of the objectives of AFCSR 2012 is to explore different ways and means to accelerate the process of innovations in CSR programs and projects, so that more stakeholders benefit much earlier.

Among those confirmed to speak at AFCSR 2012 are: Dr. Bradley Googins, director emeritus of the Center for Corporate Citizenship, Carroll School of Management, Boston College, USA; Prof. David Grayson, Director of The Doughty Centre for Corporate Responsibility, Cranfield School of Management, UK; Dato Timothy Ong, chairman of the Asia Inc Forum, Brunei Darussalam; and George S. Tahija, president director of Austindo Nusantara Jaya, Indonesia.

The early bird registration for AFCSR ends on Aug. 24, with early registrants paying a fee of $495. A fee of $585 for participants registering between Aug. 25 and Oct. 5 will be charged.

Discounts apply for group delegations of the same organization and for AIM alumni. For more information, please visit: http://www.asianforumcsr.com/registration/
