Guagua Multi-Purpose Co-op reaches elite status

-

MANILA, Philippines - A decade after being formed, the Guagua Multi-Purpose Cooperative has reached elite status, having been selected by the Pampanga Cooperative Development Council to be a part of the Apalit Small Christian Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative group in Pampanga.

The Guagua Cooperative, formerly the Guagua Businessmen and Professionals MPC, was formed in 2000 with a nine square-meter office, 27 members and a capital of P67,000.

It now has 250 members and a capital of P22 million and is in the process of putting up a three-storey office near the Guagua Market in Pampanga. Its selection to be a part of the Apalit Cooperative group was based on its accumulated asset growth.

It also has been admitted to the Apung Monica MPC-Cruzian MPC and Gabay Golden Group, a testament to its continued growth and outstanding service to its members.

Aside from constructing its own building, the Guagua MPC also plans to construct its own drug store and sell cheap medicine to its members.

Due to its cooperative success and competence, it has collected awards from numerous bodies over the years. Just last October, the Guagua MCP was named as one of the five most outstanding cooperatives in Pampanga.

The present board is composed of Alfonso G. Araullo Jr. as chairman; Marie Jane Tasic, manager; Paz Roque, treasurer; Thelma Macaspac, secretary; and Dioneto Mesuelo, Nelson Sanchez, Erlinda Dizon, and Grade de Mesa, members.
