Fruitas provides scholarships

-

MANILA, Philippines - If you want to feed the mind, you have to nourish the body first. Nutrition is instrumental to learning. This rings true for Lester Yu, the man behind the country’s best-selling fruit juices and shakes, Fruitas. Since 2005, Lester’s company Fruitas has been actively involved in certain activities to help improve the lives of the underprivileged. Over the years, he has come up with different ways to help others. He started his little “advocacy” in his company by giving his employees meals every day and appropriate assistance in financing their homes. Fruitas also sponsors a number of student athletes enrolled in San Beda by covering their daily expenses on food, transportation, lodging and other basic necessities. With his latest project called Food Scholarship under Fruitas Foundation, Lester is taking his “advocacy” out of the office and into the communities. The latest charitable project of Fruitas benefits 120 scholars from Sikap Foundation that were chosen by the local parish of Our Lady of Pentecost Parish in Loyola Heights. Lester believes that if these kids get proper nutrition, they’ll be able to concentrate on their studies better. Lester applies the same advocacy in his Fruitas offices.  Not only do employees enjoy free accommodation; everyday, employees are entitled to free meals. For Lester, it’s his own way of giving back to the employees who have helped him build the business over the years. By providing them at least one meal a day, Lester help his employees save more money, which they can use for their other needs.
