PCCI hails nomination of Domingo Lee as Phl envoy to China

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) has hailed the nomination of Domingo Lee as Philippine ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.

In a statement the PCCI said: “President Benigno S. Aquino III could not have made a more excellent choice. Domingo Lee is a distinguished member and pillar of the PCCI which he formerly headed.”

“Ambassador-designate Lee’s assignment to Beijing becomes even more crucial in this trying times of Philippine-Chinese relations. We, the officers and members of the PCCI are confident that Mr. Lee is equal to the task at hand.

“As a businessman and a banker, he would certainly help boost bilateral trade and foreign investments vital to fuel the engine of the Philippine economy.

“As far as a sensitive security issues with China is concerned, Mr. Lee’s vast contacts in the region should serve him in good stead. Sometimes someone who does not come from the ranks of the traditional diplomatic corps could provide a fresh outlook and innovative solutions to bilateral problems.

“With his firm grasp of Mandarin, the official language of the PROC, Ambassador-designate Lee will no doubt have good rapport with the highest officials of the host government. One need not worry about nuances being lost in translation during official meetings and exchanges.

“The PCCI reiterates its confidence in the competence of the nominee and his loyalty to the Republic of the Philippines.”
