PEZA approves creation of special ecozone
MANILA, Philippines - The government has declared 58,220 square meters of land in Valencia, Negros Oriental as a special economic zone in an effort to promote the agro-industrial investment in the province.
The Philippine Economic Zone Authority has approved the creation of the Valencia Special Economic Zone in Barangay Palinpinon, Valencia Negros Oriental last March 30.
The Municipal government of Valencia invested P102 million for the acquisition and development of the property.
The municipal government has introduced partial development on the property to include road network and utility requirements. Civil and construction works is also on-going to build an agro-industrial facility.
Simultaneous to the development of the proposed economic zone, the municipal government of Valencia is also in the process of acquiring adjacent properties with an area of approximately 19 hectares for the economic zone’s future expansion to accommodate multiple locators, including light to medium manufacturing industries.
The project is already 40 percent completed and is expected to be finished before the end of the year. Half of the funds used for the development of the project will come from Royalty Tax while the remaining will be from loans.
Waste water from every establishment will go through the internal drainage canal directed to the waste treatment facility located at the lower portion of the facility.
The industrial park will adopt the latest state of the art technology in treating waste water before it will be disposed back to the river for irrigation use. Solid waste will be collected regularly using the municipal truck.
Likewise, sports development and manpower skill development center will be established to support the increasing skilled manpower requirement of the park.
