NGCP provides more power for Clark ecozone

-

MANILA, Philippines - To support the power requirements in the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ), the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has recently completed a crucial transmission line and substation project in the area.

NGCP’s Concepcion-Clark Transmission Line No. 2 which was initially energized at 69 kiloVolts to provide temporary power to CSEZ locator, Texas Instruments, was energized at a higher rating of 230 kiloVolts on Nov. 3, 2009. Transformer Nos. 1 and 2 of Clark Substation were also successfully energized on the same day.

To complete the final configuration of the transmission line system, Concepcion-Clark Line No. 1 was energized at 230 kiloVolts on Dec. 9, 2009.

The Concepcion-Clark Substation Project aims to intensify the delivery of quality and reliable power in the Clark Special Zone. The project was endorsed by the Office of the President in support of efforts to transform CSEZ into a competitive international service and logistics center in the South Pacific Region.

Clark Special Ecozone will host an international airport and a proposed technopark, which will both require reliable electricity for their operations.

NGCP’s high-voltage power transmission project is expected to provide continuous and reliable power supply to the locators and customers in the ecozone thereby spurring the economic and industrial development of the area.

The project includes the furnishing, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of 230 kiloVolt substation equipment and its associated control, protection and communication equipment for NGCP’s Concepcion Substation in Tarlac and Clark Substation in Pampanga.
