NEDA's Arroyo to talk on medium term economic plan

MANILA, Philippines - Director for national planning and policy Dennis M. Arroyo of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) will talk on “How the 2009 Medium Term Economic and Development Plan Can Help the Philippines Weather the Global Economic Crisis” before the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders’ Associations Inc. (CREBA) at noon today.

CREBA national president Jaime A. Cura said Arroyo will speak during the CREBA ninth monthly business meeting at the Hotel Intercontinental Bahia Ballroom.

Arroyo has been NEDA director for national planning since 2005, a key member of the team that prepared the Economic Resiliency Plan, and is currently preparing the strategic plan for the year 2020. He served as consultant of the World Bank in “stocktaking of Social Accountability Initiatives in the Asia and Pacific Region.”

He was visiting fellow of Stanford University in 2007-2008, and obtained his Master of Arts in Economics in 1987 and Bachelor of Arts in Economics in1985 from the  University of the Philippines. He was the 1985 Most Outstanding Student of UP Diliman and a nominee for Most Outstanding Graduate of Class 1985, UP Alumni Association; lifetime member, Philippine Economics Society; fellow of Social Weather Stations (SWS), the pemiere social survey research organization in the country, and fellow, Center for Leadership, Citizenship and Democracy, UP National College of Public Administration and Governance.
