Samsung to put up Asian distribution center in RP

-

Samsung Electronic Philippines Corp.  and Berthaphil Business Park signed recently an agreement for the establishment of Samsung’s  central distribution center inside the 2,300-hectare Clark Civil Aviation Complex.

Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) president and CEO Victor Jose Luciano said Samsung will ship in an initial 40,000 mobile telephones to the DMIA which will then be distributed to India, China and the rest of the Asian region.

Samsung Philippines chief finance officer Beom Hee Lee said Samsung brings to its Philippine market a seamless integration of information, transportation, inventory, and warehousing, tightening its supply chain and thus ensuring delivery of its handheld phones to the end users at the right time and at the right place.

Lee pointed out that Samsung has been in the forefront of producing handheld phones for the last seven years in the Philippines and the rest of Asia.

“This newest Samsung Logistics installation not only reaches its market in a timely manner but assures product availability as well. Samsung’s logistics hub at the DMIA complex takes advantage of the airport’s premier service and logistics, adding to the electronic company’s time and place utility,” Lee stressed.

He added that such move makes Samsung’s handheld phones always available and provides a quick turn-around replenishment time which adds value to its customers, including its distributors and dealers.

Samsung is one of the leading producers of handheld phones and other electronic appliances in the world.

Luciano witnessed the signing of the memorandum of agreement between Samsung, represented by Lee, and Berthaphil marketing and sales manager Arlene Aniciete establishing the Central Logistics Hub of the Korean electronic company at the Berthaphil Logistics Building at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) aviation complex.

Luciano said this will be the start of logistics development at the DMIA as envisioned by President Arroyo.

The signing was also witnessed by Samsung Philippines general counsel Gabriel Matriano and Tata Alacdao, head of logistics of Samsung.
