PLDT launches private network solution

Telecoms leader Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) launched the other night Brains IP VPN, the first nationwide network-based Internet Protocol-Virtual Private Network solution in the country.

With Brains IP VPN, corporate customers of PLDT can now have a secure way to access corporate network resources over the shared IP networks. This revolutionary service will give enterprise customers secure and reliable connection with every other site on the network.

"PLDT Brains IP VPN is actually a large-scale private, dedicated and managed wide area IP Networking resources that is a marriage between frame/cell and Internet service concept," Alfredo Panlilio, PLDT Corporate Business Group head, said during launching ceremonies at the NBC Tent in Fort Bonifacio.

"It securely links corporate headquarters, remote offices and branch offices to an internal network via shared IP infrastructure from practically anywhere in the Philippines. Moreover, it allows users working at home or on the road to connect in a secure fashion to a corporate server," he said.

Panlilio added that this dynamic and innovative service will offer the same services and service control data network buyers enjoy with their current private networks but using shared public infrastructure instead of private equipment and carrier technology specialists instead of expensive staff specialists.

This solution provides a cost-effective, scalable, and standards-base seamless integration of network and application services that also eases the tasks of adding and managing new applications and upgrades.
