100 Korean volunteers sa Yolanda pinarangalan
MANILA, Philippines - Pinarangalan kahapon ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Emmanuel Bautista ang 100 Korean military volunteers na tumulong sa humanitarian at relief assistance sa mga biktima ng bagyong Yolanda sa Samar at Leyte noong 2013.
Sa awarding ceremony, pinapurihan ni Bautista ang mga contingents ng Republic of Korea Armed Forces (ROKAF) na tumanggap ng Military Civic Action Medal sa base camp ng ROKAF Joint Support Group Philippines sa Brgy. Candahug, Palo, Leyte.
Noong Nobyembre ng nakalipas na taon ay tumama sa Visayas Region ang supertyphoon Yolanda at kabilang ang ROKAF sa multinational contingent na sumaklolo at tumulong sa agarang humanitarian assistance at disaster relief.
Naging aktibo rin ang mga sundalong Koreano sa clearing operations sa Eastern Samar, Eastern Leyte at Ormoc City.
“On behalf of the Filipino people, I would like to express my gratitude to our partners from the Korean Armed Forces who were one of the first countries to arrive in the Philippines and helped us in rendering humanitarian and relief services to our people greatly affected by Typhoon Yolanda,†ani Bautista.
Samantala namahagi rin ang mga Korean military volunÂteers ng libreng pagkain sa mahigit 400 mga batang estudyante at kanilang mga pamilya, nagkumpuni ng mga imprastraktura at nagkaloob ng libreng medical services sa mga survivors ng Yolanda kaya mananatili muna sa lugar ng ilang buwan.
