Hepa C ‘deportable’ sa UAE

Simula sa Hulyo 1, 2008, ikukonsidera na ng United Arab Emirates (UAE) ang hepatitis C na isang “deportable disease” bilang karagdagan sa kasalukuyang listahan nila na kinabibilangan ng HIV, TB at hepatitis B. 

Sa advisory ng Philippine Overseas Employment Admi­nistration (POEA) sa kanilang website, lahat ng expa­triates na mapapatunayang positibo sa nasabing sakit ay inaasahang ipade-deport ng pamahalaan ng UAE. 

“The new test applies to all expatriates applying for residency and labor visas, including renewal. Anyone who tests positive for hepatitis C virus (HCV) will be deported,” nakasaad sa POEA advisory.

Ang hepatitis C na isang “chronic blood-borne infection” ay naisasalin sa iba sa pamamagitan ng dugo o anu­mang blood products at pangunahin rin itong sanhi ng cirrhosis, liver cancer at liver failure. (Doris Franche)
