TRS-Formula VI tops Philippine Endurance race

MANILA, Philippines — TRS-Formula V1 banked on its teamwork and strategy to capture the overall crown in the Philippine Endurance Challenge 2017 “8 Oras ng Pilipinas Race” at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga recently.
Five seasoned drivers took turns to complete 191 laps and steer the Tuason Racing School-prepared racecar to victory in the eight-hour event sponsored by Toyota Racing School, OMP, Rota wheels, C!Magazine and West Race cars.
The team took off second on the grid with Mike Tuason, Bjorn Ongtiaobok, Louis Ramirez and Ferdie Ong controlling a steady pace in the early going through eight stops with a small 20-liter fuel tank and a drive through penalty.
Luis Gono, the pioneer Vios Cup champion, then grabbed the top spot with 15 minutes left and drove the Formula V1 car to the finish line one minute, 14.505 seconds ahead of Team Centrum-GT Radial 2 which also completed 191 laps.
Team Big Chill-Shell Helix 1 checked in one lap later to claim overall third place while Team Centrum-GT Radial 1 and Parts Pro Racing 1 Team wound up fourth and fifth, respectively.
“It was the concerted effort of the five drivers that paved the way for the victory. The four vets bucked the odds and did their best to maintain our race position in the first hours of the race while Gono took over in the last 15 minutes to win the overall championship,” said TRS president JP Tuason.
