SEAG bet Lim nails 2 US wins
MANILA, Philippines - Alberto “AJ” Lim Jr. posted two impressive wins in the US recently as he continues to build up for the SEA Games in Malaysia next month.
Lim dumped American Eric Hahn, 6-3, 6-1, to capture the Clairemont Pro Futures Wild Card Tournament crown.
The University of the East mainstay reached the finals by thumping Brazilian Anthony Gomez, 6-2, 6-1, in the quarters and then thwarting American Maximilian Wild, 6-3, 6-4, in the semis.
Lim, backed by the Philippine Airlines and Philippine Sports Commission, thus earned an outright berth in the ITF Futures tournament in September.
The youngest champion of the PCA Open, Lim, 18, also reigned supreme in the Arcadia Public Parks tournament where he overpowered Chase Masciorini, 6-2, 6-2.
Lim has credited many-time SEAG champion Cecil Mamiit and US-based Filipino Orlando Silvosa for helping improve his all-around game.
“AJ has a great team here,” said Silvosa, who is handling a number of Fil-American players. “We are confident AJ will be ready for the SEA Games.”
