Carlos assuming scoring load for rebuilding UP

MANILA, Philippines — Incoming third year hitter Diana Carlos is slowly embracing a more mature role for University of the Philippines, carrying the young Lady Maroons along with co-spiker Isa Molde in the PVL Open Conference.
With the departure of veterans Nicole Tiamzon, Kathy Bersola and Pia Gaiser, Carlos had been taking over scoring duties for UP.
She dazzled in their first game against Pocari Sweat with 21 points, followed by 18 markers against Bali Pure Sunday.
"Expect mo nang kami 'yung kakapitan nila. Sabi lang naman ni coach, think positive lagi and 'yung teammates naman namin tumutulong naman," Carlos said after UP's 23-25, 21-25, 23-25 loss to BaliPure at the Arena in San Juan.
The rebuilding UP squad also made tweaks on their rotation, converting former libero Justine Dorog into an open hitter and former setter Ayel Estrano being transferred to libero.
With these, Carlos believes their gradual improvement will soon pay off.
"Sabi naman ni coach trabaho lang," she said. "Siyempre pag nag-improve lang kami nang nag-improve, madidikitan din namin 'yung level nila."
