BLSS bets clinch medals in Subic Open water race
MANILA, Philippines – Bert Lozada Swim School (BLSS) once again proved the efficacy of its training program for open water swimming as five members of its MultiSport Team gained podium finishes during the recent Yellow Cab DIY Open water race in Subic.
Nica Rojo and Risha Jabinez finished second and third, respectively, in the 1500m swim for the 30-34 years old, Jun Delloso finished third in the 750m (35-39), Erwin Gamilla second in the 750m (40-44) and Marlo Cagaoan third in the 750m (50 and above).
The training program, which has become a preference for many triathletes, is designed and administered by BLSS chief executive officer and high performance head Anthony Lozada, who is also one of the national coaches for triathlon and a certified International Triathlon Union level 2 coach.
According to Lozada, the open water swimming program does not only focus on scientific stroke mechanics but also involves drills such as sighting, drafting and group swimming.
“Proper introduction and progression of training volume or mileage, placing a premium on efficient stroke techniques and avoiding improper strokes that result in injuries are what make for a successful competitor,” said Lozada.
