Judah denies knocking down Mayweather

Abac Cordero - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Zab Judah, the five-time world champion, went to Twitter to deny rumors that he knocked Floyd Mayweather Jr. out in a recent sparring session.

Word spread earlier this week that Judah, who was tapped as one of Mayweather’s many sparring partners, floored the pound-for-pound champion with a body shot.

According to the report, it took Mayweather more than 10 seconds to get up and that mathematically, he was knocked out.

But just as quickly, a 15-second video of Mayweather pounding a sparring partner that didn’t look like Judah was posted on Instagram.

Judah himself helped dispel the rumors.

“That’s not true. It never happen. Stop it,” the 37-year-old American who lost to Mayweather in 2006 said via Twitter.

Mayweather is unbeaten in 47 fights and has never been down even when Judah appeared to have floored him with a right hook to the face in 2006.

The 38-year-old Mayweather has been quite active on social media since the fight with Manny Pacquiao was announced.

He’d posted video clips of his training, and it was reported that he’d been flooring his sparring partners.

Pacquiao is away in Los Angeles, also in deep training, whether it’s at the Wild Card Gym, or the Griffith Park of the UCLA campus.

Philboxing.com reported yesterday that one of Pacquiao’s sparring partners, Kennth Simms Jr. got off the ring with a bloody nose.

Pacquiao did eight rounds of sparring Thursday, and the number will rise next week, which is a month away from the fight.
