Pacquiao's fellow solons smell victory in Bradley rematch
MANILA, Philippines – Lawmakers are confident that their colleague, Saranggani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, will defeat American boxer Timothy Bradley in their much-awaited rematch on Sunday (Manila time).
House Deputy Speaker and Nueva Vizcaya Rep. Carlos Padilla said Pacquiao has all what he needs to avenge his controversial split-decision loss from the undefeated Bradley.
"Manny has the guts, confidence, ring intelligence, stamina, speed, punching prowess and aggressiveness to overcome Bradley. These assets are also backed up by rigid training and a well-thought rematch strategy," said Padilla.
Padilla said the House of Representatives and the entire nation would be cheering for the Filipino boxing icon.
Pacquiao's fellow congressman from Mindanao, Davao City Rep. Isidro Ungab said Pacquiao is the people's favorite since "he has already regained his old form and 'fighting stance' in the ring."
Meanwhile, Cebu Third District Cebu Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia also wished his fellow "Bisaya" the best of luck.
Manny has the heart of a champion and the indomitable spirit of a Filipino. Those are his greatest assets," said Garcia.
Other lawmakers who also expressed their support for the eight-division world champion are Isabela Rep. Rodito Albano, Pampanga Rep. Oscar Rodriguez and Nueva Ecija Rep. Estrellita Suansing. -Louis Bacani
