Pagasa sees fair weather until Friday
MANILA, Philippines – Aside from isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, fair weather is expected in the whole country until Friday, the state weather bureau said.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said yesterday no tropical cyclone was forecast to enter the country in the next three to five days.
PAGASA said the ridge of high-pressure area, which typically brings clear skies, is prevailing over Luzon.
PAGASA recently declared the end of the rainy season in the western section of the Philippines with the termination of the southwest monsoon.
The country is currently experiencing a transition period from easterlies to the northeasterly winds. The easterlies bring warm and moist air from the Pacific Ocean, while the northeasterly winds are cold.
However, the weather bureau said five more tropical cyclones are expected to enter the country until December.
PAGASA warned that stronger cyclones usually affect the Philippines in the last quarter of the year.
Last week, Super Typhoon Lawin (international name Haima) left massive devastation in Northern Luzon.
Lawin’s estimated damage to infrastructure and agriculture in four regions in Northern Luzon has reached P2 billion, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Prior to Lawin, Typhoon Karen (Sarika) also left P2 billion worth of damage to agriculture in Central Luzon.
