Pruning and trimming trees by MSBF

-

The Manila Seedling Bank Foundation, aside from its regular line of services such as tree planting, agroforestry, and tree farming, is also into tree care and maintenance services such as tree pruning and stump removal. Tree removal often requires careful dismantling techniques by highly trained personnel to ensure the safety and protection of your home.

Trees planted in the urban and rural environments do not only provide many benefits but also enrich the quality of our lives. However, tree pruning should be done regularly to remove dead or diseased branches from the crown, to increase light penetration and air movement and to restore the appropriate form of a tree species. Pruning is often necessary because of storm damage and to induce flowering and fruiting.

Most routine pruning can be done any time of the year. As a rule, growth is maximized and wound closure is fastest if pruning takes place before the growth flush. Some trees tend to “bleed” when pruned during the rainy season or in May. According to the MSBFI, it is best to prune trees during the dry months after the rainy season or during summer.

Though a last resort, sometimes there is no option but to completely remove a tree. MSBFI has professionals who can do the job. The purpose of tree removal program is to maintain public safety and the health of adjacent trees. Trees are removed because they are hazardous and dangerous, dead or declining, and have contracted infections diseases or have been damaged by storms. Some trees are also lost to vandalism, car accidents and construction activities. On a few occasion, trees are removed because of traffic visibility problems. Tree removal is a highly technical, delicate task that requires professionals.

Inspection fee and cost estimate by MSBFI for Metro Manila customers are free of charge. For inquiries, call 924-7001, 924-7002, 924-0166 and 929-9312, and ask for Leonardo D.
