How do I maximize my condo space?

I have recently moved in to my studio, which contains basically a toilet and bath and a space of about 22 sqm. (the T and B included). The space has no provision for a kitchen although there is already an existing plumbing line. My question is, how do I maximize the space and still install a decently sized kitchen? The space is ideal for me since I live alone but I do love to cook so I would appreciate your inputs on this.

Hi Marla,
First up, if you really love to cook then there are certain staples that you need to put in your kitchen. No matter how small a space, a good working kitchen should have a refrigerator, a cooking range and a sink. There are available models of these appliances on the market these days that cater to condo living, hence they’re relatively smaller in size so you can use them to maximize space. However, what I am more concerned with is the dynamics within your kitchen. To maximize the function, you need to follow what is called the Working Triangle of the Kitchen. This states that the distance from the range to the ref and to the sink and back should not be more than 21 feet or 7 meters. In your case, since there is already a plumbing line, situate the sink nearest to it and flank both sides of the sink with either the ref or the range. Be sure though that there is at least one foot (30 cm.) counter space between them. Also, since the space is small, I would suggest an open kitchen so you can directly access it for cooking and for entertaining guests.
