UV Express vehicles allowed back on EDSA

MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) allowed UV Express vehicles back on EDSA yesterday after a meeting with operators and transport group leaders.

In Memorandum Circular 2016-013, the LTFRB said it amended the previously issued MC 2016-009, which prohibits UV Express vehicles from using EDSA except when they are crossing in order to decongest the highway.

The LTFRB said UV Express vehicles from the south of Metro Manila going to Makati may take Skyway going to terminals at Dusit Hotel, Dela Rosa street, Gabriela Silang and other terminals in the city’s central business district.

Those coming from Makati may take Arnaiz street going to EDSA, Magallanes interchange and South Luzon Expressway. 

UV Express vehicles going to and from the south, northeast (Fairview) and east (Pasig, Marikina and Rizal) of Metro Manila may use C-5 Road to Aurora Boulevard and vice versa.

Those with routes to and from the east of Metro Manila going to Makati may take Kalayaan Flyover to Buendia Avenue while vehicles from Makati may take EDSA from Ayala Avenue and turn right to Kalayaan Avenue.

UV Express vehicles from the north are allowed to traverse EDSA from the Balintawak interchange.

UV Express drivers are allowed to drop off passengers only at the end of the Metro Rail Transit line at North EDSA and at the end of the Light Rail Transit at Muñoz.

They are barred from picking up passengers along EDSA “provided that these drop-off points are within a two-kilometer radius from the endpoint terminals,” the LTFRB said.
