MANILA, Philippines - Vice presidential candidate and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano expressed confidence that he will win in today’s elections even if he is lagging behind in previous pre-election surveys.

Cayetano said he has “great chances” of winning the vice presidential race with his running mate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s edge in the opinion surveys.

“I am confident Mayor Duterte will win and I’m confident that I have great chances given the last few days ... as I said, nasa kamay ng Diyos ‘yan,” Cayetano said.

“I am confident that we are already a winner dahil sa eleksyon pa lang na ito, nagbago na ang lahat,” he added.

Cayetano, who offered short prayer before he went to his polling precinct, cast his votes at the Sta. Theresa Elementary School in Bagumbayan, Taguig City past 6 a.m. along with his wife, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano.

He further appealed to his rivals “not thwart the will of the people” in today’s presidential polls and urged them to let the Filipino decide.

Duterte will cast his vote at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Matina Aplaya, Davao City at around 2 p.m.
