No point in having DNA test with Grace – Bongbong

DAGUPAN CITY – There is no point helping her.

This was Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s reply yesterday to queries on whether he would undergo DNA testing to help his supposed sister Sen. Grace Poe.

“There is no point…  why will I have a DNA test, what for? It will not help her; it will not have any effect on her situation,” Marcos said.

He stressed that it would be useless for him to take a DNA test to determine his blood relationship with Poe.

There were allegations that Poe’s biological father was the late Ferdinand Marcos, the father and namesake of the senator now running for vice president in the May elections.

Poe, on the other hand, is running for president as an independent candidate.

Marcos made the statement here after Poe announced on Friday that the DNA test of an alleged relative from Guimaras did not match.

Poe made the announcement during a campaign sortie in the province a day before Marcos’ own visit.

Marcos also denied reports that he is supporting Poe.

“No. I’m running with Senator Miriam (Defensor-Santiago). I do not know where that idea came from, who said it?” he asked.

Marcos said Santiago will formally announce today in Antipolo, Rizal the senatorial lineup of their tandem.

Included in the slate are former energy secretary Jericho Petilla, overseas Filipino worker advocate Susan Ople,  former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino, former Technical Education and Skills Development Authority director General Joel Villanueva,  former Armed Forces chief Dionisio Santiago and actor Edu Manzano.

Completing the list are Sen. Ralph Recto, Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez, boxing legend and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao and Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno.

Marcos visited Lingayen Archbishop Socrates Villegas on the last leg of his “Solid North” caravan in the province.

“I was blessed during the meeting, we talked everything under the sun except politics,” he told reporters in Mangatarem town. – With Eva Visperas
