Battle of the royal blue gown: Who wore it better?

Alixandra Caole Vila - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines - Inday Sara did not need an interview nor a red carpet to turn heads at the inauguration of her father, President Rodrigo Duterte. All she needed was a vibrant, eye-popping royal blue gown.

The presidential daughter instantly became a hot topic on social media, with netizens complementing her simple yet sleek figure-hugging gown that emphasized her curves. Who would have thought that she actually has a keen eye for style, right?

The gown was made by Davao City-based Silverio Anglacer, who also did the garb of Duterte's former wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman for that day.

Aside from gushing about her look, netizens were also quick to notice how "confidently beautiful" Sara was and how the gown reminded them of Pia Wurtzbach's royal blue gown, which the beauty queen wore as she claimed the crown at last year's Miss Universe pageant.

Made by Filipino designer Albert Andrada, the form-fitting mermaid gown Wurtzbach wore carries the theme "pearl of the orient." Sequins and crystals embedded on the back of the royal blue gown are meant to represent the sun rising on the Philippine sea.

Meanwhile, Sara's gown did not have back details, rather a sheer-like fabric on the chest area to put a bit of accent on the simple garb.

Both Sara and Pia stunned in gorgeous gowns at one of the biggest night of their lives. But the question is, who wore it better?
