Pasinaya 2016: Lahing Pinoy, Lahing Bel-Air

“Lahing Pinoy, Lahing Bel-Air” was chosen as the theme for this year’s Pasinaya, a much-anticipated annual thanksgiving celebration that culminates in a lively dance festival participated in by the close-knit Bel-Air Villagers in Makati City.

At the helm of this joyous event is the indefatigable Bel-Air barangay captain Constancia “Nene” Lichauco. She shared in her opening speech: “We deliberately timed our Pasinaya to take place just a week before the crucial May 9 national elections. We needed the time to bond, to step out of our comfort zones, to put aside our own convictions and passions, our obsessions with our own candidates.

“We needed to stay as a community, and to remind ourselves of a common, bigger dream that we all share. A dream for our country that allows us all to be the very best that we can be.

“Change, progress, discipline, hope, vision and action — all these come from within us. We are the agents of our own progress and our own change.”

This year’s Pasinaya was directed by Floy Quintos with Alex Sibug as production designer. Choreographers included Tin Limjap, Cecile Martinez, Lisa Chingcuangco, Andrew Ferraris, Bimbim Ebol, Ching and Sheila Pagaduan, Wilson Ong and Lyle Villahermosa. There was a special participation by Jhordan Cruz from the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group.

Everyone did his or her best to inspire the Bel-Air Villagers to shine in another unforgettable show.
