P21.48 million illegal drugs seized in Central Visayas
CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 seized P21.48 million worth of illegal drugs in 753 operations across Central Visayas in August, resulting in the arrest of 821 alleged drug suspects.
The confiscated drugs included 3,158.05 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, valued at P21,474,719.60.
Police also recovered dried marijuana leaves and plants worth P9,408, bringing the total value of the confiscated illegal drugs to P21,484,127.60.
The operations included buy-bust operations, the implementation of arrest warrants, checkpoints, and police responses to drug-related incidents.
The Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) recorded the biggest haul among PRO-7’s operating units, confiscating P5,580,776 worth of illegal drugs.
The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) followed with P4,680,516, while the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) seized P3,736,576 worth of illegal drugs.
The Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) confiscated P3,710,943.60 worth, followed by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) with P2,822,000, and the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) with P953,316.
PRO-7 Director PBGen Arnold Abad commended the police units and personnel involved in the operations.
Abad said PRO-7 would continue its aggressive and procedure-based campaign against the illegal drug trade while strengthening intelligence-driven and coordinated operations against individuals and groups involved in it.
The campaign is part of the Philippine National Police’s “Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman” agenda.
PRO-7 also urged the public to report suspected illegal drug activities to authorities. — MRM (CEBU NEWS)
