SUPERSTITIOUS. The parents were superstitious to the bone, and Tisay, the only daughter, grew up turning dinner plates before eating, stepping on salt before entering the house from a wake, never sweeping the floor at night, and many other rituals she practiced without question.

MORE. She became more superstitious when she grew older.

LBM. Once, she dropped a coin into a toilet bowl after relieving herself, wishing her LBM would stop.
