CEBU, Philippines —  After a two-year hiatus, the long-awaited full distance Ironman returns with Century Tuna Ironman Philippines on Sunday, March 6.

Presented by Big Boss Cement, the 3.8-km swim, 180-km bike, and a 42-km run tri-race is set to happen on a challenging yet beautiful course in the historical Subic Bay town.

With Asia’s Ironman races on hold due to the global pandemic, the team is ready to shift gears to full throttle with the return of not only the full distance Ironman Philippines triathlon, but also the Ironman 70.3 Subic Bay triathlon.

The races kick off the Ironman Asia calendar with added safety measures.

“As we usher in the new normal, we are excited to hit the ground running and kick start Ironman races in the region once again. We are committed to giving the same unforgettable Ironman experience our athletes have trained hard for, while employing strict safety protocols to allow our athletes to race with a peace of mind,” said Ironman Asia Managing Director Jeff Edwards.

The anticipation rises as the entire nation has all eyes on the first Ironman Asia event since the pandemic began. With safety as the top priority, Ironman Asia has been working tirelessly with the venue partner, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), to ensure all protocols will be met and enforced.

“Subic Bay is thrilled to host the first Ironman event in Asia since the global pandemic. We are one with the Ironman team in ensuring the safety of all the triathletes and guests, as well as all the team behind the race,” shares Atty. Wilma Eisma, Chairperson and Administrator of SBMA. “Subic Bay is, and has always been, a safe place for triathletes, and we hope they enjoy the scenic routes as they swim, bike, and run. Subic Bay will continue to be the triathlon capital of the Philippines.“ — EBV/PR
