CEBU, Philippines — Two died and another was injured in separate shooting incidents in the cities of Cebu and Toledo in a span of 24 hours.

In Barangay Das, Toledo City, victim Brian Alvior, 26, jobless, and a member of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity, was shot dead by an unknown motorcycle-riding assailant past 8 p.m. the other day.

Senior Police Officer 1 Bartomiano Gargar, desk officer of Toledo City Police Station, said that their investigation is leaning towards the victim’s involvement in the fraternity and possibly in illegal drugs.

Police recovered two empty shells of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Roughly six hours after, Allan Barason, 32, who worked as a cook in one of the local restaurants, was also shot multiple times while he was asleep.

Suspect Jariel Linihan reportedly who barged inside the victim’s residence in Sitio Sambag Dos, Barangay Sangi. The assailant allegedly fled immediately from the crime scene.

The police are eyeing at jealousy as a motive in the killing after they found out that Barason’s live-in partner was the suspect’s previous girlfriend.

Linihan has a child with Barason’s live-in partner.

The police are now conducting follow-up operations to track the suspects.

Meanwhile, a 60-year-old woman was shot while she was on her way home yesterday morning.

At around 6:30 a.m., suspect Jemcee Mallorca Bulawit and another unknown assailant reportedly shot Matilyn Vilabr Misa at Sitio Happy People, Barangay T. Padilla, Cebu City.

Misa, who was on her way home, suffered two gunshot wounds to the shoulder and the mouth.

She was brought to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention.

Police investigator SPO1 Julito Elarcosa said that they are looking into personal grudge as the possible motive in the shooting.  The police have discounted the victim’s involvement in any illegal activity.

Suspect Bulawit is still at large but the police are already conducting hot pursuit operations against him. (FREEMAN)
