Ex-convict shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - The body of an ex-convict who allegedly tried to rape a little girl was found in the waters off Sitio Tunga, Barangay Tangke, Talisay City, around 6 a.m. yesterday morning.

The body, with gunshot wounds to the neck and abdomen, was later identified as that of Evo Lastimosa, alias “Boy Tilaw”, 40, a resident of Naga City, Cebu.

Talisay City Police Station staff Gerald Jagna said before he was found dead Lastimosa allegedly tried to rape a little girl but was prevented from doing so by some residents of the said place.

Jagna added that the victim was an ex-convict who served time in prison for murder.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Cogon West, Carmen, Cebu, a dead body was found in the middle of a nipa plantation around 8 a.m. last Sunday.

The victim was later identified as Ryan Noro, 26, a resident of Sitio Malbago, Barangay Luyang, Carmen, Cebu.

Senior Police Officer 4 Danilo Laurante said in a phone interview that a .357 cal. revolver was found around 40 meters away from the body and was presumably owned by the victim.

Laurante added that the motive of the incident has yet to be established.

In another development, a man who attended a fiesta was stabbed dead by his friend’s enemy in Sitio Candangas, Barangay Caduawan, Tabogon, Sunday dawn.

Jovit Singuran, 20, a resident of Sitio Bahada, Barangay Caduawan, died of a fatal stab wound in the chest.

Police Officer 1 Diomar Malinao, of the Tabogon police station said Singuran had an argument with a certain Boy Dennis Mabuang, 33 beside the road near where the disco party was happening when the suspect, Renz Ginoo, 20, suddenly came from behind and stabbed him in the chest with a kitchen knife.

Malinao added that during the previous night, the friends of the victim and the suspects were seen arguing over petty issues during the disco party.

“Naglalis na ni ang duha ka grupo sa bisperas pa lang sa fiesta, suya-suya sa sayaw pero kani si Singuran kay wala ni apil, murag na-angin lang g’yud ni siya,” said Malinao.

Ginoo immediately fled the area after the incident. Mabuang was arrested later that day after the witnesses told police that he was a companion of the main suspect.
