‘Silab’ lead actor shows promise
Director Louie Ignacio is finally doing his passion project titled “Abe-Nida” for Baby Go’s BG Productions which is also returning to film production after being sidelined by the pandemic.
A dream project of Direk Louie for eight years, the movie finally commences filming on May 21. He also wrote the story which has Allen Dizon and Katrina Halili in the lead roles.
“I really wanted Allen to be my lead actor that’s why I waited for him,” Direk Louie “I know Allen is a very good actor but I want to challenge him more by entrusting to him the role of Abe which is very interesting.”
Allen is playing the role of a mentally-deranged sculptor while Katrina plays his wife. He is excited because the role is very challenging.
Direk Louie hopes that “Abe-Nida,” with the script written by Ralston Jover, will once again bring Allen acting honors when it is shown abroad since they plan to enter the movie to international film festivals.
Direk Louie is likewise happy to be working with Katrina. They first worked together in “Starstruck” and he believes in her acting capability. “I chose her to play Nida because it fits her and I also wanted to give her an interesting role.”
Katrina and Direk Louie expressed excitement in working together in a movie. Direk Louie hopes “Abe-Nida” will be an acting vehicle that can give Katrina the recognition she deserves.
“Abe-Nida” also stars comebacking actor Leandro Baldemor and award-winning filmmakers Laurice Guillen and Joel Lamangan, Maureen Mauricio and Vince Rillon.
It was shot in Paete, Laguna which is known for its intricate wood carvings.

Marco Paulo Gomez, one of the lead actors of “Silab,” was excited but nervous at the special press preview of the Joel Lamangan film for 3:16 Media Network owned by Ms. Len Carillo.
It was the first time that Marco was able to watch this movie that serves as his big break.
We remember the first time we interviewed Marco, he expressed surprise at the many daring scenes he and Cloe Baretto had to do in this sexy drama written by Raquel Villavicencio. They had several steamy love scenes shoot au naturel.
“Silab” has a number of breast exposure and frontal nudity involving Cloe and Marco. We are not sure if these scenes will be retained if and when the film is submitted for classification to MTRCB.
Marco said it’s his trust for Direk Joel and his director’s belief in him that enabled him to do justice to the role, including the baring requirements. This gave him the courage to do all of them, no questions asked.
“I really didn’t imagine I could do all those sexy scenes but like what Cloe and I agreed during the shoot, we will just do as we are instructed by Direk Joel so that all scenes can be finished in one take,” he said.
For a newcomer, we will give Marco’s acting a passing grade. He shows promise. If he can be handled by a good director who can guide him, he can improve his skills in time. We believe he can excel in any role given more experience, and good roles that can hone his craft. All he needs to do is choose his projects well so he will be given the right exposure and shine.
