Arjo Atayde tries out rom-com

Arjo Atayde is having a grand time with his career.

He got a big break when he was tapped by Dreamscape Digital and Rein Entertainment to play the lead in the socio-political drama series “Bagman” which started streaming on iWant last March 20. This tells the story of an ordinary man who sacrifices his values to provide for his family.

The role gave Arjo his fair share of good reviews and many are saying he is definitely an acting find. This should not come as a surprise. After all, Arjo won a number of awards playing Coco Martin’s nemesis, Joaquin Tuazon, in "FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano."

“I love challenges and I love taking on roles that I know will test my limits as an actor,” said Arjo who is taking another route as he plays the lead in the upcoming rom-com movie under Regal Entertainment titled "Stranded."

The movie is Arjo’s first crack in a romantic role.  He is acting opposite Jessy Mendiola, a long-time friend, so there was no need to break the ice. Shooting went on smoothly.

“I want to discover if I can make people fall in love with me this time,” said the son of actress Sylvia Sanchez and businessman Art Atayde on why he accepted the role in "Stranded."

“If they hated me when I was doing bad guy roles, I want to find out if I can also make the audience love me if I do a role as a romantic lead.”

"Stranded," directed by Ice Idanan, is due for release on April 10 under Regal Entertainment.
