The Sinulog Idol Season 10 Final Six
CEBU, Philippines — Carcar City’s pride James Alfafara won Sinulog Idol Season 10’s sixth elimination round dubbed as Rock Night.
Alfafara, a 19-year-old graduate from University of Cebu (METC), made the audience at Plaza Independencia roar as he sang Bamboo’s rock hit “Hallelujah.”
“Overwhelming kaayo. Kami tanan gusto gyud mi makadaog. And with the fact nga three times ko naapil sa bottom three, least expected na gyud nako ang ma Star Of The Night. Ang akong goal nalang gyud unta ato ang maka-apil sa grand finals. Pero God is so good kay naa pa gyud gihatag nga bonus,” he said.
Alfafara, who had the shakiest journey in the competition, became part of the Top 6 who competed in last night’s grand finals at Plaza Independencia alongside Shim Dagatan from Danao City, Rache May Parco from Minglanilla and Talisay City’s Jessa Abaquita, Zane Dugaduga and Vanessa Kaye Parame.
Jake Batiancela, a registered Medical Technologist from Guadalupe, and Maica Papas, Regional Coordinator of Pinnacle Real Estate Consulting Services, were eliminated from the competition Wednesday night.
“You all have shown a tremendous amount of growth and we are so proud of what you have become,” judge Apple Abarquez said of the Top 6. “Layo ra kaayo sa kung unsa ang nakit-an namo. The potentials have come out and there is more to explore even after the competition. Again, balik-balikon gyud ni nako nga ‘Once an Idol, always an Idol.’”
She admitted that it was hard deliberating on who will move on to the grand finals.
“As you look at the growth of individual singers for this season from auditions ‘til tonight, lisud siya in the sense nga lain-lain sila og level of growth,” Abarquez explained.
For another judge, Banat News Entertainment Editor Ryan Mark Borinaga, he is proud of what the upcoming Idols of Cebu have become. He is also thankful that these contenders did not disappoint him after saving some who almost failed in the audition round.
