Kris Aquino makes a splash

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky Calderon - The Freeman

Queen of Digital Media Ms. Kris Aquino certainly knows how to make herself talked about and how. At the press conference of her comeback movie “I Love You, Hater” on Monday, the event was just warming up, but Kris already had a revelation.

She was asked (together with her co-stars Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto) if they agree with the statement, “When you love, you also hate.” Kris said, “When you are so capable of hating someone you once loved then there is still love. Pero kung deadmabels ka na or carebears ka na sa buhay niya that means naubos na ‘yung love.”

That sent the press and the fans seated at the balcony section of the Dolphy Theatre in a frenzy.

“Huwag kayong mag-react sa likod. I still care about him. Ang tinutukoy ko na wala na akong care sa kanya, yung tatay ni Bimb,” she clarified, obviously referring to on-and-off again boyfriend, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and ex-husband James Yap respectively.

“Para klaro tayo, basta kung saan tayo nakatayo ngayon, kung saan located ang ABS-CBN, he can still make me hate him. So that means I still have feelings for him. Sorry ha, nabubuwisit pa ako kasi ilang phones na ang naibato ko eh, di ba? Buti na lang endorser ako ng Smart kaya pwedeng magbato nang phone.”

Kris said she didn’t want to lie about how she feels. She was also asked who is the person she loves and hates at the same time, to which she answered, “si Mayor, Mayor HB.”

“I told him I can give up being Kris Aquino for you and yet kulang pa rin iyon para sa iyo. If the man who never says sorry, si President Duterte, nagpaabot ng sorry sa akin, bakit ikaw hindi ka nag I’m sorry sa akin? And then he said to me, ‘Mag-usap tayo nang harapan. Ang sinabi ko, ‘Para ano pa?’”

Julia said to Kris that she needs closure and the queen of digital media said, “I don’t know and yun lang ang sinabi ko. Siguro until now, may galit. Yun lang.”

When asked who was the last one who said “I love you” her or Mayor Herbert, it took time before Kris answered. “If I answer that, he’ll deny it, that’s why I won’t answer that. How many times has he denied me?”

Kris admitted missing acting even if she had been busy everyday as the reigning Queen of Digital Media. She says nothing comes close to portraying a character. She also misses hosting a game show.

“The acting part is what I do miss and I have to hand it to my director in ‘I Love You, Hater,’ Giselle Andres. I’ve never worked with someone this meticulous and somebody this young, and yet so brilliant already,” Kris exclaimed.

“Yes, she is brilliant and she was able to get, I believe, one of the best performances I’ve ever been able to give in my entire life because she knew the right buttons to push,” she asserted.

Co-written by Rona Co and Kristine Gabriel, “I Love You, Hater” will be shown on July 11 as part of Star Cinema’s 25th anniversary.
