Mandani Bay waterfront boardwalk to open by July
CEBU, Philippines — HTLand Inc., the developer behind the 20-hectare Mandani Bay township in Cebu, will open its 500-meter waterfront boardwalk to the public by July, reinforcing the city’s growing appeal as a prime lifestyle and investment hub in the Visayas.
Inspired by global waterfront destinations such as Aomori in Japan, Lakeview in Dubai, and Singapore’s Quayside Isle @ Sentosa, the boardwalk overlooks the Mactan Channel and is envisioned as a vibrant public promenade.
It will be accessible daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering open-air leisure and wellness spaces including jogging paths, al fresco dining, and community gathering areas.
“The lifestyle component of Mandani Bay is now slowly taking shape,” said Gilbert Ang, project manager at HTLand, in a press briefing.
The soft launch of the boardwalk also marks a defining phase in the rollout of the township’s retail core—“The Shops at Mandani Bay”—with at least 20 retail outlets expected to start operations by year-end.
Among the tenants lined up are Taiwanese hotpot chain Red House Shabu Shabu, Abaca, Acacia Steakhouse, Poke Bowls, and the Cebu-based Café Laguna. Casual kiosk brands such as Lemon Co., Potato Corner, Chaboba X Yoboo, and Thirsty will also be part of the waterfront retail mix.
HTLand formalized lease agreements with a broad array of homegrown and international brands on May 20 in a contract-signing ceremony, underlining investor confidence in the project's long-term trajectory.
The broader township development—launched in 2017—is gradually materializing its vision of a fully integrated live-work-play enclave.
Mandani Bay Suites, the residential flagship, now hosts Watsons’ first sustainability-themed store in Cebu, along with Japanese shabu-shabu restaurant Chankonabe, Coffee Station, Amana Spa & Wellness, and Dharana Yoga Studio. These additions complement earlier tenants such as Yukga, Etta’s, The Fat Chair, Chill Laundry Lounge, and Metro Gourmet. More brands are reportedly in final negotiation stages.
Once completed, Mandani Bay will feature 20 residential towers with a total of 20,000 units and over 43,000 square meters of gross leasable retail space. The development is seen as a trendsetter for a new era of township planning in Cebu, blending residential living with curated cultural, lifestyle, and retail experiences.
“We are proud of what The Shops and The Boardwalk represent,” said Ang.
“We are getting closer to realizing our vision of making Cebu a truly world-class lifestyle destination—where passions converge and life is truly enjoyed,” he added.
