Kim Chiu’s sister arrested for theft

MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested the sister of actress Kim Chiu in Mandaluyong City on Sunday over 124 counts of qualified theft stemming from alleged financial discrepancies in their business.

Lakambini Chiu, 45, was nabbed along Saint Francis street in Barangay Wack-Wack after police served her a warrant issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 84.

The court recommended bail of P5.838 million.

The criminal complaint under Article 310 of the Revised Penal Code was filed by the actress in December 2025 after financial discrepancies were discovered in their business.

The Quezon City prosecutor’s office found sufficient grounds to charge Lakambini with 124 counts of qualified theft involving a total of P44,396,331.65.

The actress’ lawyer earlier said Lakambini was involved in the management of the business, but declined to identify the company.

Lakambini will remain in police custody pending the issuance of a commitment order and the return of the warrant to the issuing court.
