Maroons target Top Two clincher

MANILA, Philippines — Reigning champion University of the Philippines guns for the second and last twice-to-beat edge against Final Four hopeful Ateneo in the Battle of Katipunan to kickstart the final week of the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball eliminations today at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Tip-off is at 4:30 p.m. for the main game of the pivotal double-header that also features La Salle (6-5) and Adamson (5-7) at 1:30 p.m. with both also pressing their playoff bids.

Also in the mad race are Santo Tomas at 7-5 and Far Eastern U at 5-7.

For the Maroons, the immediate goal is to nail a 10th win to secure an outright Top 2 spot and a twice-to-beat incentive in the Final Four.

As it stands, UP is assured of at least a playoff for the No. 2 seed but could still be joined by La Salle and Santo Tomas.
