MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala bamboozled Chile’s Jimar Geraldine Gerald Gonzalez, 6-2, 6-0, in the first round of the W25 Palma del Rio in Spain Tuesday.

From a losing final stint in the W60 Madrid 10, Eala was off to a strong start again, disposing of Gonzales in only 56 minutes to advance to Round 2 against either Valeria Savinykh or Jessica Ponchet.
