MANILA, Philippines — Jordan’s Team A reasserted its might on Gilas Pilipinas, 84-74, to send the Filipinos down to the battle for third in the King Abdullah Cup at the Prince Hamzah Hall early yesterday.

The Jordanians, who dealt Gilas an 84-72 beating in the elims Friday night, took command with a big surge in the first quarter then quelled the young guns’ repeated uprisings en route to the semis victory.

The second-seeded home squad set up a title duel with No. 1 Egypt, which dispatched No. 4 Tunisia, 80-71.

Gilas will try to end the five-nation, six-team tournament with a bang as it shoots for the bronze medal against the Tunisians.

Angelo Kouame was the only Philippine stalwart to finish in double figures, shooting 20 plus six rebounds and two assists.

Jordan Heading netted nine on a 3-of-7 clip from the deep while Thirdy Ravena and Dave Ildefonso had eight apiece.

Ahmad Al-Dwairi put up another dominating performance against Gilas with 19-16-7. Cameron Forte matched his 19.
