Valdez, Creamline affected by long delay vs BanKo Perlas

MANILA, Philippines — The final game between the Creamline Cool Smashers and the BanKo Perlas Spikers on Wednesday was scheduled to start at  6p.m.

But with both prior matches ending in five-setters, the concluding match to the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference triple-header on Wednesday didn't begin until 8 p.m.

The long waiting time, Creamline skipper Alyssa Valdez says, definitely had an effect on the teams.

"It's really hard to wait that long. Kasi alam mo yun, nawawala yung ritwal mo, 'di mo nagagawa talaga yung mga normal na mga warmups niyo," Valdez said after the game.

The squads also had to wait for PacificTown Army and Choco Mucho to vacate their dugouts in the arena.

Valdez also said that the Cool Smashers had to make a conscious effort to keep their bodies warm and awake late in the game.

"Sa totoo lang po, sleeping time namin mga 10(p.m.), 9(p.m.) ganyan... [so] inside the court nga sabi nain we should keep on talking kasi lahat ng katawan namin, yung body clock talaga namin medyo iba," She said.

Fortunately for the Cool Smashers, they were able to shake off the long wait and closed out the game in four sets and finally ended the match day at around 10 p.m.

Creamline is now atop the standings with an unblemished 4-0 record.

They are now looking forward to their showdown with reinforced conference champion Petro Gazz on Saturday.
