Obstacle sports not totally out yet
MANILA, Philippines — All’s not lost on obstacle sports making its debut in the Southeast Asian Games as a regular sport.
“Not yet. Laos is making a bid,” said Phl Olympic Committee chairman Abraham Tolentino yesterday.
Tolentino told The STAR that things will be finalized soon.
It was reported last Friday that obstacle sports, which is gaining popularity, has been relegated to the status of a demonstration sport in the 30th SEA Games which the Philippines is hosting Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 as only Malaysia, Myanmar and host Phl are competing.
If Laos makes it, the sport gets the required minimum of four participating countries to be included in the SEAG calendar. Otherwise, obstacle sport will just be a demonstration event.
