F2's Stalzer raring to face former team Petron

MANILA, Philippines – Emotions are expected to run high as Lindsay Stalzer battles her former team in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Stalzer, who now campaigns for F2 Logistics, said she’s looking forward to a great match with Petron, the squad she led to the Grand Prix title last year.

Unfortunately, the Blaze Spikers left her unsigned as they opted to tap Katherine Bell and Stephanie Niemer — two of the best imports who ever played in the league.

Stalzer, instead, crossed the enemy lines and joined the Cargo Movers, who have been the Blaze Spikers’ bitter rivals after clashing with them in the past three finals showdowns.

So far, both the Blaze Spikers and the Cargo Movers are on top of the team standings with five straight victories.

Petron, however, appears to be more indestructible as it has yet to drop a single set.

And it challenges Stalzer.

“Every game is exciting, but this game will be more exciting,” said Stalzer, who already has three Grand Prix crowns under her belt.

“Petron is a great team. They are on top of the conference right now. I’m looking forward to a great match.”

F2 Logistics coach Ramil de Jesus said having Stalzer — the biggest thorn on their path before — would be their biggest advantage against a squad as disciplined and as powerful as Petron.

“Yes, I think having Stalzer is an advantage as long as we can maximize the players that we can create for her,” said de Jesus, who led the Cargo Movers past Petron in 2017 with MJ Perez and Kennedy Bryan as imports.

“Also, she’s familiar with Petron and she’s been her for quite a while now, so she already knows how to handle the game.”
