Gilas falls to Kazakhstan at home

MANILA, Philippines - Gilas Pilipinas suffered a stunning 92-88 defeat to visiting Kazakhstan in a tighty contested game in the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Alexandr Zhigulin and Anton Bykov led the charge for Kazakhstan, finishing with 31 and 24 points, respectively.

Stanley Pringle and June Mar Fajardo scored 24 and 23 points, respectively, while Marcio Lassiter added 17 for the Philippines, which desperately tried to steal the game from the visitors in the endgame.

Gilas next faces Iran on December 3 at the same venue.
