PNP, AFP keep share of UNTV caging lead

MANILA, Philippines — Defending champion Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines downed their respective rivals in contrasting fashions to stay at the helm in Group A in the sixth UNTV Cup at the Pasig City Sports Center over the weekend.

Led by former UE standout Olan Omiping, Abul Khair Bayabao and Alfredo Yanquiling III, the PNP Responders clobbered the Commission on Audit Enablers, 112-71, for their third straight win in the event offering P4 million to the chosen charity of the champion team.

The Responders took control early, 31-21, and never looked back with Yanquiling topscoring for with 18 points and Omiping and Bayabao combining for 30 markers.

The AFP Cavaliers, in contrast, struggled past the Senate Defenders, 72-71.
