MANILA, Philippines - The NBA yesterday formalized its comprehensive multi-year partnership with global insurance provider AXA as its official insurance partner of the league in the Philippines.

Brook Lopez, the seven-foot All Star center from the Brooklyn Nets, graced the launch of the partnership also attended by NBA Philippines managing director Carlo Singson and AXA Phl president and CEO Rahul Hora at the Hard Rock Café in Makati.

As an affiliate, AXA Phl will serve as the presenting partner of the NBA 3X Phl, a 3-on-3 tournament featuring the men’s and women’s teams from all over the country.

AXA Phl will also back the Jr. NBA Phl program, a grassroots development program by the league.

“At AXA, we believe in assisting our clients in making the right financial decisions by offering innovative solutions similar to how an NBA coach helps his team win games,” said Hora.

For his part, Singson said they are proud to welcome AXA to the NBA family.

“We look forward to integrating AXA to our marquee NBA events and platforms in the Phl to create fun and engaging experiences for our passionate fans,” said Singson.

Lopez also backed the new union, saying: “For me, I’ve injured myself four or five times and if I didn’t have insurance, I would have been in a lot of trouble. So we all have to have that safety net to protect us.”
