UFL booters test Aussies in All-Star featured match

MANILA, Philippines – The United Football League All Stars battle Australian club Perth Glory FC in the main game of the league’s All-Star weekend today at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The UFL crew seeks to prove its mettle and pick up a victory in the 3:30 p.m. match against the A-League side which played Global FC to a 0-0 draw last Wednesday.

Coach Simon McMenemy assembled an 18-man squad bannered by former Azkals Jason de Jong of Loyola Meralco Sparks and Aly Borromeo of Kaya FC to take on the Aussies.

Matthew Acton (Kaya), Fitch Arboleda (Stallion), Jun Badelic (Global), Kouichi Belgira (Loyola), Joshua Beloya (Stallion), Ian Clarino (Loyola), Louis Clark (Kaya), Shirmar Felongco (Kaya), Ashley Flores (Stallion), Daniel Gadia (Loyola), Robert Lopez-Mendy (Kaya), Yu Hoshide (JP Voltes), Tahj Miniecon (Loyola), Woody Ugarte (Kaya), Jinggoy Valmayor (Loyola) and Masaki Yanagawa (JP Voltes) are also carrying the fight for UFL.

“The guys are interested and excited to play to represent the league,” said McMenemy of the Sparks. “All players are keen to prove themselves.”

Prior to the All Stars-Glory fixture, the UFL Philippines squad and the UFL Rest of the World hit the turf for their 1 p.m. showdown.
