Jackes clinches back-to-back mini-ROK crowns

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Tuason Racing School protégé Flynn Jackes captured his second straight crown after ruling the 2012 Coca-Cola Mini-ROK Cup Series recently at the Carmona Racetrack.

The crown came after his national Mini-ROK title in the Coca-Cola Karting Series, putting him a step closer to his quest for a Triple Crown under the helm of Tuason Racing-Castrol Team powered by Castrol, Bridgestone, Standard Insurance, C! Magazine, OMP, Coke Zero, Oakley, Aguila and Toptul.

To complete the Triple Crown, he now sets his sight on regaining the Asian Mini-ROK crown for the country against equally talented Indonesians in the 2012 Asian Karting Open Championship.

If he makes it, he will go down in Philippine Motorsports history as the first karter to achieve a Triple Crown or a grand slam by winning three karting titles in three separate karting series all in one season.

The Fil-Aussie, 9, immediately underwent a month-long rigorous training to press his bid for the Asian Mini-ROK plum in the last two rounds of the 2012 Asian Karting Open Championship set Dec. 15-16 in Sentul, Indonesia.

“We’re impressed with Flynn’s dedication and determination as he invested a lot of sacrifices in clinching back-to-back Mini-ROK crowns.  And it’s not yet the right time to celebrate as he needs to go back to business, training for one month under the Tuason Racing School Race Career Management Program (TRS-RCMP) in preparation for his AKOC stint in Indonesia,” said JP Tuason, founder and president of the Tuason Racing School.

“We told Flynn to just hang on because we want to make sure that no stone will be left unturned,” he added.

We will take care of the preparations for his machine but he has to do his part preparing himself during the month-long training to make sure he’s as competitive as the Indonesians, beat them for the crown and complete his date with Philippine Karting history,” he added.

Jackes’ feat was another feather in the cap for the TRS-RCMP which was envisioned to help young racers achieve a successful career path in motorsports and develop them into world caliber racing champions by providing them with available programs and racing avenues abroad through its partnerships in Asia, US and Europe.

Since most of the Indonesian karters are racing abroad, winning the Asian Mini-ROK crown might convince the host country to tag him along in their European sorties next year.

TRS-Castrol teammates AT Tuason and newcomer Julia de los Angeles also bagged podium finishes.
