Ortigas Center Run slated Sunday

MANILA, Philippines - The Ortigas Center is hosting the first ever fun run in Pasig – the Ortigas Center Association, Inc. (OCAI) 10K, 5K and 3K races – on Sunday in and around Ortigas Center.

The 10K route, to start at 5 a.m., will feature a downhill trek on Lanuza Drive in Valle Verde and an uphill stretch on Julia Vargas Avenue. The 5K, which fires off at 5:15 a.m., will take runners through San Miguel Ave. to E. Rodriguez Ave. and back to Exchange Road for the finish line while the 3K, to start at 5:30 a.m., will be a more casual breeze within the Ortigas Center.

The OCAI Run, presented by the Ortigas & Company Limited Partnership, is sponsored by HSBC, Meralco, Puregold, San Miguel Corp., First Holdings, Flanax, Xenical, The Oriental Assurance Corp., BusinessWorld, CCI Enterprises, SM Megamall, Robinsons Department Store, Unilever and Ropali.

At stake is P41,000 in cash for the top finishers of the 10K, 5K, and 3K. The top 10K male and female will receive P5,000, second placer P3,000 and third P1,500. In the 5K run, the top three finishers get P4,000, P2,000 and P1,000. Top finisher in the 3K gets P3,000 and the second placer P1,000.

All finishers will receive finishers tshirts and certificates of completion.

“We are looking forward to welcoming all runners bright and early this Sunday,” said Luz Cotoco, chairman of OCAI. “With veteran race director Rudy Biscocho at the helm, this promises to be an organized and challenging run for both novices and seasoned running enthusiasts alike.”

Registration period is until tomorrow at all Mizuno outlets and at the OCAI office.
